UNC Charlotte Collegiate Section
Welcome to UNC Charlotte's section of Society of Women Engineers. We are a non profit student organization that focuses on outreach, professional development and community involvement, and networking.
Over the years we have been involved with the local Girl Scout Council to introduce young girls to engineering. This event teaches the girl scouts about the different disciplines within engineering with hands on activities and crafts. Most importantly this teaches the girl scouts that there are women in engineering.
At least once a semester the section hosts a professional development workshop that is open to the college. This allows the section to meet people outside the group as well as give back to the community.
Most recently the section started an annual Mr. Engineer Competition, which was first held May 1, 2009. This event was aimed at getting the section heard as a group that is still actively on campus. Now that it worked we will use it as an opportunity to invite the campus and local community to enjoy an entertaining evening as the male members, faculty and students, of the College of Engineering compete for the title of Mr. Engineer.
