Incoming freshmen can be directly admitted to their major of choice by meeting the following criteria:
Engineering Technology and Construction Management Majors
Students interested in declaring majors in the Department of Engineering Technology must meet the general admissions requirements for UNC Charlotte.
Students who are undecided about their major may declare Engineering Technology-Undesignated. It is important that undesignated ET majors work closely with their freshman advisor to choose a major during the first year.
Engineering Majors
Students interested in declaring majors in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering must meet the general admissions requirements for UNC Charlotte and:
- Earn a C or better in all high school math courses
- Earn a minimum Math SAT score of 480
Students who wish to be engineering majors but do not meet the additional math grade and test score requirements will be admitted to UNC Charlotte as undeclared majors in the College of Arts and Sciences. These students can qualify for admission to the College of Engineering as sophomores by completing the freshman engineering curriculum with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
