ANSWERS
  1. We recommend a variety of software, including Microsoft's built-in backup utility for both Windows XP/Vista/7, as well as SyncBack. See SyncBack's Tutorial Section for details, or our Step-By-Step Guide.

  2. We recommend scheduling automatic virus scans, definition updates, Microsoft updates, anti-malware scans, and backups.

  3. Faculty and staff who purchase a laptop from the UNCC program are offered additional support by PCS. See the Faculty and Staff Support page for details.

  4. PCS currently supports only Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Mac OS X operating systems.

  5. If your PC is damaged and under warranty, we will coordinate repair with ITS if it is a Dell or Apple system. See the Faculty and Staff Support page for details.

  6. If your PC is stolen, we recommend you contact the proper authorities (CMPD in an off-campus instance, Campus Police if on-campus) and your insurance company as soon as possible. All UNCC purchased Apple,Dell and Lenovo PC systems as of 2007 have Computrace installed on them. In the event of a PC system theft, contact the PCS group immediately so we can get started with the trace process to recover the PC system.

  7. An Apple system or Dell PC system or Lenovo system purchased by UNCC will typically have a warranty period purchased with the system. If you need to have warranty work done on the Dell or Apple system you may contact the PCS group to help coordinate the warranty work.
