What is Trillian?

Trillian is an instant messaging client that combines AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo! Messenger into one interface. You can use one login name to manage all of your IM accounts simultaneously!

Setting up Trillian

When Trillian is first run, the following window shows up:

 

Click on "Basic". The next window that appears looks like this:

At this screen you may choose a username that will serve as your global login. This is simply your Trillian login name and is not a login for any of the available messenger services.

At this screen, check the messenger clients for which you are currently registered, or plan to register. Click "Next".

Now the login screens for each checked service will appear. Login to each service, or click "Register new..." if you would like to create a new account with that service.

If you later decide to add a new screen name for a service, from the Trillian buddy list, go to File > Preferences> Identities and Connections > Add a new connection...

This is your buddy list. From here, you can open new IM conversations, set your online status, and more. In the red circle above are the service-specific drop down menus.

Trillian has a very useful help section located within the application. When the application starts choose the Help button at the top right corner of the application.
