Using Microsoft Outlook in Exchange Mode


Microsoft Outlook can be set up in Exchange Mode to use things such as shared calendars, Global Address book, etc, on the UNCC Microsoft Exchange mail server. Note that you may only connect to the mail server using Outlook in Exchange Mode inside the Campus firewall.


If you have already set up an IMAP account or any other type of email account on Mosaic using Outlook 2007, you need to follow these steps as you must change your Outlook "profile":

  • Step 1: Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  • Step 2: From the Control Panel menu, click Switch to Classic View, then double-click Mail.
  • Step 3: Select the Email Accounts button in the Mail Setup window.

  • Step 4: Select New under the Email tab in the Email Accounts window.

  • Step 5: Make sure that "Exhange Server, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP" is selected then click Next.
  • Skip to  Step 2 of "Setting up Outlook for the first time in Exchange mode" below.


Setting up Outlook for the first time:

  • Step 1: First startup Outlook 2007 and click Next on the Outlook 2007 Startup Menu.

  • Step 2: Select Yes on the Email Accounts window. Then, select Next.

  • Step 3: Select the check box "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" then select Next.

  • Step 4: Next, select Microsoft Exhange in the Choose E-mail Service Menu..

  • Step 5: Type the name of the UNCC Exchange Server. The server name used is "EXEVS01.its.uncc.edu". Make sure the "Use Cached Exchange Mode" check box is not checked. Also, enter in your username for your email account (i.e. your login name).

The next window that should appear

The username is unccharlotte-nt\username . In the example above, 'delobean' was the user name. If you check 'Remember my password', Outlook will not remember your password but it will remember the user name.
