USING 7-ZIP TO ARCHIVE AND EXTRACT FILES

Archive Files

  1. The first step is to locate the files that you want to ZIP/Archive. Once the files are located, choose which files are going to be zipped. Then "Right Mouse" click over the highlighted file(s) and choose "Add To Archive"

  2. On the following screen, you will be given the choice of where to store your zipped file(s). picture2
  3. By clicking on the "Browse" button, you can navigate to the folder you like to store the file(s)

  4. Once you have finalized where the file(s) should go, the "Archive" box should look something like this. Click "OK"picture4
  5. It will create a zipped file on the folder you specified earlier.picture5
    You have now zipped/archived your file(s).

Extract Files

  1. Choose the file you want to "unzip" and double click it.

  2. Once you double click the zipped icon, the screen below appears. On this screen you will have the option of choosing where to extract your files to.picture7
  3. Click on the file(s) you would like to extract and click the "Extract" button.

  4. You will then be prompted to choose where to put your files. You can navigate by clicking on the browse button to the right of the path. You can also add a folder to the end of this path. In the case shown, I chose to call the folder "unzipped files".picture8
  5. The folder that I created will now show up.picture9
  6. You can then double click on the newly created folder and your files will be there, ready for use.
