How to configure Evolution to read E-Mail


  1. The first time that you run Evolution you will have set up your email account.  Click on the icon in the Linux toolbar. 

  2. After going past the "Welcome" screen you will see the "Setup Assistant" shown below.  Enter your name and your UNCC email address, then select "Forward".


  3. The next screen will ask you for the Server Type.  At UNCC you may use either Microsoft Exchange or IMAP.  Shown below are screen shots of the appropriate entries for both. (If you choose Outlook as your server type you will have to click "Authenticate" and enter your email password before being allowed to move to the next screen in the process.)  Once you have entered your information, click Forward.

  4. Set how frequently you want Evolution to check for new mail.  Click Forward.

  5. Now setup the outgoing or SMTP server. Click Forward.


  6. Enter a name for this account.  Click Forward.


  7. Set the timezone based on city location for Evolution to use.  We chose New York.


  8. Click Apply and you are done.
