Generally, a newly arriving faculty and staff of the College of Engineering will automatically receive a Banner id number and campus network account that will need to be activated as described in http://www.helpcenter.uncc.edu/pwmanager.html#activate Your campus network access account is referred to as your NinerNet account. Once this process is completed the newly arriving engineering faculty and staff member can read their UNC Charlotte email and enjoy other benefits from the central ITS offerings. The newly arriving engineering faculty and staff member will also be activated on the College of Engineering Mosaic system using the NinerNet ID and a unique password that will be set to allow log in and use the engineering workstations in the college.

The process described here lets the new faculty or staff member get the NinerNet account prior to arriving on campus. It can also be used to get a NinerNet account for sponsored guests. This process is generally handled by the College of Engineering department administrator well in advance of when the faculty or staff member arrives on campus. Visit http://www.helpcenter.uncc.edu/Accounts/request_account.html to request a NinerNet account on the campus network. Once ITS has processed this form, they will notify the Department Contact/Sponsor of the new faculty or staff member’s UNC Charlotte Banner ID. The new faculty or staff member will then be notified by the sponsor of the account or the department administrator that the Banner ID is set up.

The new faculty and staff member will then use the Password Manager to activate their NinerNET account. Activation of your NinerNet account is done by going to http://www.helpcenter.uncc.edu/pwmanager.html#activate web site and entering all the requested information, answering some questions and selecting a password that meets the criteria for a secure password. Once the NinerNET account is active you will be able to use the campus email system to read your email.

Your Mosaic account uses the NinerNet id as your user id but you can have a different password than what you use on the ITS system. To have your Mosaic account activated before you arrive on campus, you will need to contact the Mosaic Help and Support desk via an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it requesting that a Mosaic user ID and password be established, giving the name and the newly acquired NinerNET user ID and your Banner ID number.
