USB Peripherals on Mosaic Windows Print

Since the deployment of XP SP3 there has been an increasing number of issues with using USB peripherals on Mosaic XP.  Users would attempt to plug in a thumb drive, presentation remote, iPod, or portable USB hard drive and would be presented with a dialog box asking for administrative credentials before using the device.  This problem did not affect older machines that were built prior to SP3 deployment, but since Mosaic either replaced or refurbished a record number of machines this summer, the issue has become even more widespread on Mosaic XP machines.  Users also reported seeing similar prompts for displays when using MosaicAnywhere.  After a considerable effort, we have developed a patch for existing systems and have identified the root cause of the issue.  This issue should be addressed system-wide in the next Mosaic XP update in Mid-October 2009.
